The Lancia Delta ECV (Experimenta Composite Vehicle) is a never-raced rally car. Born as successor of Lancia Delta S4, was designed to compete in Group S (an evolution of Group B).
In order to mantain the leadership in World Rally Championship, Lancia (with the Abarth R&D) has developed a really innovative car with large use of composite materials (chassis, bodywork, and rims).
With a weight of 930 kg and approx 800 bhp of power, the performance were really close to Formula One car, but a rally car shoud race in normal road!
After lot of dramatic crash (and deaths), the FISA (Fédération Internationale du Sport Automobile) decided to ban from rally the Group B cars, and also the Group S was stopped immediately.
Now the car take part on exhibition like Rally Legend, often with Miki Biasion at the wheel.
This car was restored by Beppe Volta (Volta Racing).
